  • Indoor Coils – Of stainless steel?

In many cases a heat pump system requires an indoor coil, as well as the outdoor coil. For many new refrigerants, and new designs, it is crucial that these be made with stainless steel tubes, or even fins if there is special needs.

For detailed information about indoor coil configurations, see our Indoor Coils Technical Guide.

    Outdoor Coils

Outdoor coils for heat pumps may require special tubes for special applications. From adsorbion ammonia units to high pressure CO2 the steel tubes provide the only solution. At today’s copper prices, they may even have the same cost has copper. Our all robotic laser welding is faster and cheaper than the old fashioned copper brazing.

    Brine Cooling

In some applications for heat pumps, it is needed to have steel for the liquid loop. We have seen hybrid units with the brine being actually CO2 or Ammonia.

    Gas to Brine Units

In many case a brazed plate heat exchange cannot handle the pressure, temperature, chemical uses. Our fin and tube, multi pipe system allows any liquid to gas or liquid liquid liquid without any issues.

    Immersed Phase change units

Sometimes you need to put a st-st pipe immersed in a liquid. We specialize in all kinds of bent pipes for immersion heating/cooling

    Outdoor Coils

Many heat pumps require a heat exchanger to be outdoors.  In many environments this can be potentially corrosive.  In these environments Steel tubes and fins give much better lifetime performance than copper or aluminium.  IF it is mission critical it has to be steel. For details about gasses see the indoor coil selection section.

    Brine Cooling

In all heat pump systems there is also the water/brine circuit.  In many cases this has to be sanitary drinking water, and our Stainless steel tubes are all approved for drinking water.  So this fills the gap.

    Gas to Brine Units

For many uses it is not possible to use a BRAZED plate heat exchanger.  It could be temperature or corrosion, or even high pressure.  THERMOGYM has ways of using fin and tube heat exchangers to allow for gas/liquid heat transfer.

    Immersed phase change material

As the picture above, it is possible either 2 phases or single phase to have coils to be able to provide cooling directly to a water bath.
